Kumano River Boat Tour

Descend the historic Kumano River pilgrimage route by boat.

The boat departs from the Kumano River Boat Center and follows a 90-minute one-way course downriver to the riverbank near Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine (the disembarkation point).
*(Note: Arrival times may vary depending on river conditions.)

The Kumano Kodo, a World Heritage site, has the Kumano River as one of its pilgrimage routes.

Location & Access

Address: 54-8 Tanaga, Kumanogawa-cho, Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture.
Access by Bus: Alight at the "Michi no Eki Kumanogawa" bus stop (Kumanogobo Nankai Bus Kawatake Line). The Center is immediately visible upon disembarking.

Important Notes

・Operation in Rain: Tours operate as usual, even in the rain. Please bring your own rain gear (jacket and pants). Rain gear is also sold at the boarding area (Rain Jacket/Pants: ¥150 each; Raincoat: ¥300. Limited stock available).

・Prohibitions: Alcohol consumption and smoking are strictly prohibited while on the boat.

・Footwear: Please avoid high heels and wear comfortable, easy-to-walk-in shoes, as you will be walking across the riverbank to board.

・Minimum Participants: The minimum number of adult participants required for operation is 3 people.

・Life Jackets: Life jacket wear is mandatory during the boat ride. Life jackets are provided free of charge.

・Pregnant Passengers: For safety and physical considerations, we may decline passage to pregnant passengers.

・Pets: We strictly prohibit pets from riding the boat.

・Weather Cancellations: Tours may be canceled due to inclement weather or high river levels. If your reserved tour is canceled, we will contact you directly from the Center.

・Luggage: Large items (backpacks, suitcases, etc.) cannot be carried onto the boat. They will be transported free of charge to the disembarkation point via the Center’s shuttle bus.

・Parking Shuttle: For those arriving by car, a complimentary shuttle bus will transport you from the disembarkation point back to the Center’s parking lot after the ride.
